"Bombing"

It Happens To Everyone!!

One of the differences between newbies and season professional comics is the frequency and reaction to "Bombing!"

I found this very simple and informative video on "Bombing" by Comic Ms. Lisa Corrao. To find out more about Lisa visit http://lisacorrao.com/

David Reuben, the author, bombed terribly on his first set on amateur night in a comedy club in 1983. I went on 15th out of 15 and did not get a laugh on any jokes. Three weeks later, I went to the same club and had a great set.

Guess what every comic "Bombs" during their careers. It is a rite of passage. As you progress in your comedy career and learn how to deal with "Bombing" these become your comedy folklore. In fact on road trips comic's will swap war stories.

Thorough out my career I have bombed more times then I can remember. I learned to use these sets as a as a tool to get better. As comics we do not learn from the good sets, we learn from the bad sets.

Tip: Please do not dwell on the set.

Tip: Learn from the bad sets.

Tip: After "Bombing" get back on stage as soon as possible.

Tip: Don't watch the video or listen to the tape.

Performing stand up comedy is hard enough, let's eliminate the problem of "Bombing"

If you have an idea for a "Comedy Tip" please send them to The Comedy Green Room with the Subject Line "Comedy Tips". Please include your name and city with the "Comedy Tip" so we can give you credit.
